The group Urucum Na Cara is the result of intensive research and experiences around the Brazilian popular culture. Features prominently in the scene independent of Belo Horizonte. From the combination of Brazilian rhythms such as afoxé the congado the sieve and maracatu, with elaborate arrangements, the group creates an identity marked by dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary, with strong appeal to the cultural and musical diversity, this training group, the lyrics, the harmony and the craft process of building some musical instruments used.
Released her first album "A Beira do Dia" in 2012 completely done with their own resources, with several appearances by artists and partners as Sergio Pererê and Titane. The album reached very significant impact, being guided in several newspapers and websites as one of the best albums of Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB) in 2012.
The group conducted a survey on the sonority of cultural and urban popular city. For more than a year were made interviews and experiences with masters guards Congado. Along with this came one reflection by the artists who have experience in mixing elements of traditional cultures and popular song as Titane, Sergio Santos and Sergio Pererê. The fruit of this research has been done numerous songs collectively, based on the first CD of the group. This work was sponsored by the Municipal Act to Encourage a Culture of Belo Horizonte

O Grupo Urucum na Cara é fruto de um intenso trabalho de pesquisa e vivências em torno da cultura popular brasileira. Possui destaque na cena independente de Belo Horizonte. A partir da combinação de ritmos brasileiros, como o afoxé, o congado, a ciranda e o maracatu, com arranjos elaborados, o grupo cria uma identidade marcada pelo diálogo entre o ancestral e o contemporâneo, com forte apelo à diversidade cultural e musical, presente na formação do grupo, nas letras das músicas, na harmonia e no processo artesanal de construção de alguns instrumentos musicais utilizados.
Lançou o primeiro álbum “à beira do dia” em 2012 feito completamente com recursos próprios, contando com diversas participações de artistas e parceiros como, Sergio Pererê e Titane. O álbum alcançou repercussão muito expressiva, sendo pautado em vários jornais e sites como um dos melhores discos de MPB do ano de 2012.
O grupo realizou uma pesquisa sobre a sonoridade das manifestações culturais urbanas e populares da cidade. Durante mais de um ano foram feitas entrevistas e vivências com mestres de guardas de Congado. Junto a isso foi feita um reflexão junto à artistas que possuem experiência na mistura de elementos das culturas tradicionais e a canção popular como Titane, Sérgio Santos e Sérgio Pererê. O fruto dessa pesquisa foi inúmeras canções feitas coletivamente, a base do primeiro CD do grupo. Este trabalho foi patrocinado pela Lei Municipal de Incentivo a Cultura de Belo Horizonte
